In a significant move to alleviate traffic congestion and enhance connectivity, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) appointed contractors for key road infrastructure projects in Mumbai and Thane.

AFCONS S Paramasivan, MD

imageThese projects involve the construction and widening of over 50 km of roads, addressing critical transportation needs in the region. With a combined total road length exceeding 50 kilometers, these projects are set to dramatically improve the region’s transport infrastructure. The MMRDA remains dedicated to executing these projects with high standards of safety and efficiency, ensuring better commutes for all residents of Mumbai and Thane. Afcons bagged the creek bridge and road from Kasarvadavli to Kharbao, Bhiwandi worth Rs 1,525.31 crore; and elevated road from NH-4 (Old) to Katai Naka worth Rs 1,981.17 crore.

In April, Afcons and Sam India Builtwell JV marked a significant milestone as their tunnel boring machine (TBM) achieved its first breakthrough at RBS College station for Corridor I of the Agra Metro Phase I, spanning 14.25 km.

In June, it emerged as the lowest bidder (L1) for a tunnel project in Thane. The project aims to enhance connectivity and infrastructure in the region, representing a major advancement in urban development and transportation. The bid process was competitive, with Afcons Infrastructure demonstrating competitive pricing and technical proficiency in tunnel construction. The company’s selection reflects its commitment to delivering high-quality infrastructure solutions that meet the region’s growing transportation needs.
