Ella plans to sail solo round the Arctic

British yachtswoman Ella Hibbert is undertaking an expedition to become the first person to sail solo, non-stop, around the Arctic—an achievement only made possible by the alarming pace of sea ice decline.

At the time of going to press Hibbert (28), a Yachtmaster Instructor, was counting down the days until her departure from Haslar Marina, Gosport, at the end of May.

Hibbert has spent the past three years preparing for the 10,000 mile journey aboard her 1978 38ft Bruce Roberts offshore steel ketch, Yeva.
