OKAY, I’M NOT delusional.

I’m not going to try to tell you the Skoda Enyaq is a sporting icon like Sir Mo Farah. However, it does have something in common with Sir Mo because, like him, it has done something a lot of its rivals haven't.

Sir Mo won Olympic gold medals at two very different distances: 5000 and 10,000 metres. Meanwhile, the Enyaq has been recognised as both a new and used buy; it was voted the best-value new electric SUV at our 2022 awards, before being crowned as our Used Car of the Year in 2023.

The Enyaq has also evolved over the past five years, getting faster, just like Britain’s four-time Olympic gold medallist did during his career. My 85 Edition model is the more powerful of the two options now available. With its 82kWh (usable capacity) battery and 286bhp motor, it dispatches the 0-62mph dash in 6.5sec. That's two seconds quicker than the previous Enyaq 80, and it’s nippier than the equivalent Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6 and Nissan Ariya.
