IF YOU'RE IN a long-distance race, a boost from an energy gel or a protein bar can go a long way in getting you to the finish line, and similar thinking is behind range-extender electric vehicles (EVs), such as the new Leapmotor C10 REEV.
Like the conceptually similar Mazda MX-30 R-EV, it's powered by an electric motor and a sizeable battery (28.4kWh total capacity), and there's a petrol engine to generate extra charge when the range dwindles.
