THE Q5 HAS been one of Audi's best-selling models since it was first introduced in 2008. Think of it as the classic Barbour wax jacket of the car world: something that's stylish and upmarket, yet functional, so a favourite of many well-heeled families.

It's always offered plenty of room for five (the car, not the jacket), lots of creature comforts and a wide range of economical engines. And while none of that will change with the new, third-generation version, Audi hasn't been resting on its laurels.
