COUNT(ACH) ME IN!

THERE'S A REASON THIS LAMBO IS THE QUINTESSENTIAL SUPERCAR.

COUNT(ACH) ME IN!

SO SOMEONE CLAIMS on the following pages that the Lamborghini Countach is not a bucket-list car? And my job is to say that it is? Ha! Easy money.

Reputation and styling alone make a Countach the statement piece of any collection. Few would argue with that. The Countach started everything that went on to define what a supercar would be for decades: longitudinal mid V-12, wedge styling by the legendary Marcello Gandini for Bertone, and, for a time, the highest top speed of any production car ever. That gets it most of the way.

But the Countach is also lustworthy by any other consideration. Beauty? Check. Innovation? Check. Rarity? Check. Sound? Check. Driving dynamics? Check.

Disagree with that last one? A great Countach is sublime. It may not be practical for every driving scenario, the way a current supercar is, but that's fine. Back in the Countach's day, all cars were more focused on their respective task. The trucks were work tools, with little regard to how they drove, and the supercars were great at going fast but clunky around town. You had to warm them up and stretch their legs, and the Countach was no exception.
