Legacy stories are tricky; you're torn between history and heirs, especially when the family tree has been replanted, and succession involves an intercontinental relocation.

MG CYBERSTER SCISSOR UP

But in MG Cyberster's case, there's a buffer. Most of us have never experienced the MGB Roadster, the inspiration behind Cyberster, which means we're driving a new car, a product, not a story. A premium, sporty offering from the same brand that produces Hector and Gloster. With Cyberster, MG is digging into its roadster past while pushing into the electric future, and they've got most of it right. Why? Give me about a thousand words to explain.

imageWhat is Cyberster?

A roadster with the marketing pitch of being the fastest MG ever. A convertible for the Indian market, which has a dearth of such cars. A sports car with an all-wheel-drive setup, delivering 510 PS of power and 725 Nm of torque. A conversation starter with a 0-100 kmph time of just 3.2 seconds, proper sports car territory. Not to be missed is its drag coefficient of 0.269 Cd, a significant figure in this segment. And all this with a 77 kWh battery pack and a claimed 580 km on the MIDC cycle.

imageNow, the mechanics and structure. The car gets a high-strength cradle structure, a Level 2 ADAS suite with real-time driver monitoring, plus airbags, stability control, and a differential lock. The introductory price was set at ₹72.49 lakh (ex-showroom) for those who pre-reserved. For everyone else, it’s ₹74.99 lakh. Add one more punchline next to “the fastest MG” — this is also the most expensive MG ever. The price includes both a portable 3.3 kW charger and a 7.4 kW wall box with installation. MG also offers a lifetime battery warranty for the first owner and a 3-year/unlimited km warranty on the car.
