I'VE GOT FORM. My Boxster and BMW 320i Convertible, of course. I had a Porsche 944 from 2012 to 2020. Before that a 1975 NSU Ro80, and I owned a BMW 2002 in the early Noughties, too. So when it came to replacing our seven-seat family wagon with something more interesting, it was bound to be German.

Lots of seats I can live without, but I like a big boot. It also had to be capable of daily use in all weathers on journeys of all types. And it must entertain yet be refined. So an E39 Touring it had to be. Peak BMW. I just needed to find the right one.
