A tiny jewel
Go! Camp & Drive
|June/July 2023
When they visited the Anysberg Nature Reserve for the first time earlier this year, they weren’t sure what to expect. Piet and Magda Janse van Rensburg from Villiersdorp tell us about their experience
We‘d only heard of Anysberg before. So, when we decided to head out there at the end of March this year, we had no clue what awaited us. We just told each other we’d go and see, come what may.
WHAT ARE THE ROAD CONDITIONS?
During our drive, the 78 km gravel road from Touwsrivier was in good condition and we made good progress. However, our spirits dipped a little shortly after passing through Anysberg Nature Reserve’s entrance gate.
The feeling was that if the campsite looked like the road, the chances of a delightful experience were slim. Let’s just say it took us about an hour to cover the 28 km from the gate to the campsite. It’s not that the road was necessarily terrible, but there were places where we had to drive through wash-outs, and it took a lot of time.
