Aston Martin brought the noise to Le Mans – and won plenty of hearts

NO SHORTAGE OF GREAT COMPETITION cars this year. McLaren's MCL39 dominated the balance of the 2025 Formula 1 season, albeit facing tough competition at times from a resurgent Red Bull Racing's RB21 (in Max Verstappen's hands at least) and occasional threats from Mercedes' W16. With wins and podiums aplenty in the hands of both Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, the MCL39 sealed the constructors' championship for McLaren back in October, with six races still to go.

In the World Rally Championship, the Toyota GR Yaris Rally1 has been utterly dominant over Hyundai's i20 N Rally1, defending Toyota's constructors' title through a substantial regulation change for non-hybrids.

But the car that garnered most votes from the evo team is one which has – thus far – been anything but dominant: the Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR-LMH. Ferrari's 499P (itself winner of this award in 2023) won its third 24 Hours of Le Mans in a row, and both the drivers' and manufacturers' titles in the World Endurance Championship. But Aston's newcomer to the WEC (and the IMSA series in America) turned more heads – and rattled more eardrums with its unhybridised naturally aspirated Cosworth V12.
