The Kia EV6 was already one of the most complete electric cars on sale, but this mid-life update makes it even harder to fault. With a larger battery and a subtly upgraded design, its case as one of the best all-round EVs in the market just became stronger

More Charge, More Charm

BACK IN 2022, WHEN THE KIA EV6 FIRST landed on Indian shores, it looked more like a spaceship than a car: the striking subzero design and insanely powerful figures made a case for electric vehicles that even naysayers found hard to deny. Three years later, it was time for Kia to refresh one of the best all-rounders in the market; and the company has kept it simple.

Starting with the looks. The 2025 Kia EV6 GT-Line gets a new GT-Line front bumper and “Star Map Graphic” connected daytime running lights (DRL) headlight and taillight clusters with sequential turn-indicators, along with new 19-inch glossy-black alloy wheels, which Kia claims to be more aerodynamic for added efficiency. The car already looked unlike any other EV, or, for that matter, any other car at that price point, and the new updates have just improved upon the aesthetics. The fascia feels much more integrated with the rest of the car's design philosophy, and the EV6 looks properly celestial, especially in the chic Runway Red shade.

The biggest change in respect of the new EV6 GT-Line is to be found beneath the floor carpet: improved energy density means the battery capacity has risen from 77.4 to 84.0 kWh, thus extending the IDC range from 505 kilometres to 663 km (ARAI), and the battery is actually lighter by a kilogram.

When you do eventually need to charge, this car won't keep you waiting around for long. It takes just 18 minutes to get from 10 to 80 per cent capacity on a 350-kW fast-charger, which is quicker than most rivals. The 800-volt architecture remains a standout, allowing it to charge faster and run cooler than most 400-volt systems in the segment.
