New battery and 451kW charging among 20,000 claimed developments

Xpeng has been in the UK for less than a year, yet it has already updated its initial offering. The Chinese EV firm claims to have made “over 20,000 incremental developments” to the G6's design, interior, handling and refinement.

You have to look hard to spot the new full-width front light bar and more raked rear end, so the G6 remains fairly inconspicuous.

The technical changes are far more interesting. When the G6 landed in February, you could have a Standard Range car with a 65kWh lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery or a Long Range car with a 87.5kWh nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) battery, both of them with single-motor rear-wheel drive. Now Xpeng has added a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive Performance model and ditched the NMC battery in favour of an 80.8kWh LFP pack.
