NEW V8 TO FLY THE ICE FLAG FOR MERCEDES-AMG MODELS

AS MERCEDES-AMG previews its electric future, it is also readying major updates for its top-tier combustion-engined models, centred on an update to its next-gen V8 powertrain and the decision to ditch its four-cylinder PHEV.

Speaking to Autocar, Mercedes-AMG CEO Michael Schiebe said the brand has “an incredible amount on our plate”. He added: “We are working on many products; we are continuing to work on combustion engines. We are currently working on our next-generation V8. For our customers who love the V8, and we have a strong reputation and heritage there, in the future we will continue to provide that and other combustion engines. We want to make it stronger, more performant. We also have to ensure that it is more efficient to meet the regulations.”
