FROM £7,500 If it's open-top thrills that you're after, the best used convertibles offer incredible value for money and huge fun

10 BEST USED CABRIOLETS

MINI Convertible Prices from £7,500

THE MINI Convertible requires little introduction. It was an Auto Express New Car Award winner for longer than we care to remember, and in 2024 took the crown for 'Best Convertible' in the Auto Express Used Car Awards, too.

Its blend of performance and practicality is hard to beat, but once you factor in great availability on the secondhand market, plus prices from just £7,500, it’s our top pick.

There are lots of engines to choose from, including the racy Cooper S and JCW variants. But we find entry models almost as fun — thanks to the MINI's excellent chassis and direct steering.

The ride is a bit too firm and there's not a lot of space in the back, plus the boot is all but hopeless. But when you're driving it with the roof down, little else matters.

PROS

Four-seat practicality (just)
Great fun to drive
Plenty on used market

CONS

Tight rear legroom
Firm ride
Small boot

imageMazda MX-5 Prices from £10,500

IF you don’t need four seats but want a compact, affordable and fun-to-drive convertible, you need look no further than a Mazda MX-5.

Like the MINI, the Mazda is a multiple award winner, and despite the current, fourth-generation car being the best part of a decade old, it’s still incredibly competitive. There’s a good reason why it’s the world’s bestselling two-seat roadster.
