Masks In Automotive

It’s no secret how masks were made the new normal with viruses mushrooming all around us. Advanced by an estimated three-five years, filtration has taken a whole new meaning. Be it filtration of key components of in-cabin filtration begun to be looked at as standard inclusions. From Particulate Matter (PM) emission compliances with cleaner tech aspiring for zero tailpipe emissions, there is an equal amount of emphasis on in-cabin filtration being improved significantly. What goes in must be filtered on its way out! In the latter’s case in the cabin. Cabin air filters today are deemed critical according to Ashok Pandey, Director of Automotive at Freudenberg Filtration Technologies. On the tour to the Freudenberg Filtration Technologies (FFT) Pune plant, team FFT showcased the technology and process behind the manufacturing and standardisation of air filters (engine and cabin). The diversification of business and the clear demarcation were outlined.

Commenting on the importance of cabin air filters and setting the context of the plant operations at FFT, Pandey explained, “Particles, pollen, fungal spores or other allergens are captured in the filter along with larger particulate matter such as dust from the residue of street-side garbage and crops.” “If left unfiltered, cabin air can be up to six times more polluted than ambient air. As Indians spend an average of three hours a day in their cars, an effective vehicle cabin air filter can help to save lives,” he pointed out. With its latest product launches in India the Particulate Matter (PM) PM2.5, PM1.0, activated carbon and anti-allergen filters the goal of FFT is to improve the quality of life.
