THE STILLNESS WITHIN
October 2025
|Architecture + Design
On Hyderabad's southern edge, Antriya unfolds as a home shaped by memory and material. Designed by Srikanth Reddy of 23 Degrees Design Shift, it is an architecture of stillness — one that listens to land, lineage, and light
At the heart of Antriya, the living room becomes the house's emotional axis — a space that gathers air, water, and memory in quiet balance. Set between the three linear stone walls that organise the extensive plan, it opens to views of the surrounding water body and grape garden, allowing the architecture to breathe between enclosure and expanse. “Antriya is born from an intimate process of understanding the family's spatial needs and gathering stories across generations,” says Srikanth Reddy, Co-founder and Partner at 23 Degrees Design Shift. “The clients often spoke of visiting their family's vineyards as children and travelling around the Mediterranean. These memories were translated in the form of a grape garden, ATV tracks, rock gardens and the use of desert palms and bougainvillea for the landscape.”
STRUCTURE AND SILENCE
The living room’s calm is anchored by the Khammam brownstone walls — tactile spines that define proportion and movement. “They're the main organising elements,” Reddy explains. “One connects the drop-off point to the verandah, another divides public and private spaces, and the third screens the service zones. Together, they control what you see, what you don’t, and how light and air filter through.”
