July 2025

How Hardesh and Monica Chawla transformed their vision of thoughtful luxury into a 25-year legacy, championing India's craft techniques while creating spaces that elevate everyday living. From their in-house manufacturing to their son Hridik's global perspective, Essentia Environments proves that 'Made in India' is the future of timeless design

The Stallions of Indian Design

There is something riveting about walking into Essentia Environment's office in Gurugram. Not because of its sheer scale or the fact that its appearance is a little formidable, (though the marble-clad entryway and interiors do command respect) but simply because it makes you pause, and a sense of intrigue overlaps your mind.

It compels you to rethink your understanding of what luxury truly means. A mecca in marble that leaves an everlasting impression no matter how many times you cross paths; this office is tangible proof to their belief that design should elevate every aspect of human experience. The glass doors, marked with words like 'Solutionist' and 'Pathfinder,' aren't just design elements; they are manifestos carved in transparency, mirroring the philosophy that has driven Essentia Environments for a quarter-century.

imageThe consistently progressing dialogue around high-end design reveals perhaps the most thoughtful aspect of the Essentia philosophy.

"Luxury is often misunderstood as being synonymous with price," explains Co-founder and Principal Designer of Essentia Environments Hardesh Chawla. "For me, one of the most important components of luxury is personalisation. True luxury is when something is designed specifically for you, tailored to your lifestyle, your preferences, and your needs." This understanding has led to what might be considered a revolutionary approach to high-end design. "Sometimes, less is more.

#BEATTHEFIRE - WHAT YOU SPECIFY CAN DECIDE WHO SURVIVES

In moments of fire, there is no second chance. The materials you choose today determine whether a building protects lives tomorrow - or puts them at risk. In an age where speed of construction and visual appeal often overshadow safety, one critical truth must remain nonnegotiable: fire safety begins at the specification stage.
