CONTOURS OF RARITY
October 2025
|Architecture + Design
Luxury often lives in paradox.
Coveted by some, it goes unnoticed by others. What compels one may feel ordinary to another. Its outlay and scarcity may mark its edges, but design gives it substance. From a one-off yacht to a watch imagined by an architect, to a car painted to trace the stars, here are six of the latest, crafted to exist nowhere else.
THE ADMIRAL ARMANI 72M YATCH CUT TO CRUISE
What would a yacht by Giorgio Armani feel like? Now, there's an answer. The first of two yachts conceived by Armani for The Italian Sea Group made its debut at the Monaco Yacht Show 2025, a 72-metre expression of his tailoring instincts, only this time in aluminium and marble. Its exterior alternates between clean geometry and soft curves, satin aluminium brushed with steel, floor-to-ceiling windows framing the sea. Terraces, sun decks, open-air lounges, even a helipad, all fall into place as if by instinct. Inside, Armani/Casa pares it down. Black Marquinia and golden Calacatta marble sit alongside Canaletto walnut, mirrors and soft textiles. Light glides over the surfaces, catching edges and grain. Rooms flow like a jacket cut to move with the body. The bronze-painted hull and terraces stretch outward with the same ease, perfectly at home on the water.
