With a strong emphasis on sustainable craftsmanship and innovation, Orange Tree is carving a new path in the world of furniture design

A TREE OF POSSIBILITIES

With a vision to bring world-class designs to India, Orange Tree’s founder, Gaurav Jain set out to create a brand that prioritises craftsmanship and eco-friendly practices. In this conversation, we dive into the story behind the brand, its design philosophy, the sustainable practices driving its growth, and much more.

Tell us a bit about yourself — your tryst with design and how the brand Orange Tree came about?

"Make in India, made for the world" is a mantra that drives Orange Tree's commitment to sustainable design and craftsmanship. Inspired by my father, Mr. Vinay Kumar Jain, who founded Basant in 1998, we have left mark in 17 countries, collaborating with global giants like Crate & Barrel and Zara Home. With the vision to bring world-class designs to India at accessible prices, I launched Orange Tree in 2014 in Jodhpur. Recognising a gap in the market for contemporary, high-quality furniture, Orange Tree focuses on sustainable materials and innovative designs. We started with a flagship store in Hyderabad, expanded to Bengaluru, and are now excited to bring our offerings to Ahmedabad.

imageWhat was it about design that inspired you?

Design has been an integral part of my life from an early age, shaping my passion for creating pieces that harmonise comfort with aesthetic appeal. Inspired by sustainability, Indian craftsmanship and contemporary design principles, I founded Orange Tree to specialise in eco-friendly furniture and home décor. Our products are meticulously crafted from sustainable materials like teakwood, iron, steel and innovative plant-based fibres derived from banana and orange peel. We blend natural materials with artistic flair and practicality, catering to modern tastes while embracing Mediterranean influences and Grecian symmetry.
