Famed for their long silky feathers, kind eyes and lofty stature, the Shire horse is a breed finding its place once again in a modern world.

Founded in 1878, the Shire Horse Society is your 'go to' resource for all things related to the Breed. We work to actively encourage and promote the breeding of the Shire horse throughout the United Kingdom, together with the conservation and development of these horses very much seen as a part of our national heritage.

The Shire Horse Society offer education and training to members and to the public about the importance of preserving this heritage breed, and of its role at present and going forward for the future. Traditionally a working horse, the Shire has attributes that are being rediscovered across new generations with high profile successes in both riding and driving.
