Figaro hits the right notes

“THE music makes him grow - it’s quite a cool feeling,” said Verena Howson of Figaro V, an outright and bronze winner in the advanced medium freestyle with 71.83%. “I ride him to a Bridgerton theme with an Austrian touch. That’s where I’m from, so we've also included Rock Me Amadeus by Falco.”

According to Verena, who bought Figaro five years ago, the Fidertanz gelding is aptly nicknamed.

“His stable name is Banana, which really represents his character,” she explained. “He's quite quirky and goofy and he wants to be friends with everyone, but he’s very willing to work. I'm so proud of him.

“Our big goal is to do our first prix st georges this year,” added Verena, who trains with Jack Boarder and Ben Franklin.

A horse bought as “a complete project” has come up trumps for Katie Horgan. Miracle SB, an elementary silver and outright winner, has overcome issues to excel at both dressage and eventing.
