SECRETS FROM A MAFS WEDDING!

Woman's Day Australia

March 1, 2021

From vows that take three hours to film to hungry guests demanding more food, a wedding insider reveals 10 explosive secrets from the 2021 couples’ big day

SECRETS FROM A MAFS WEDDING!

While they may look glamorous on TV, a wedding guest who attended one of the Married At First Sight nuptials tells Woman’s Day what they’re really like to attend...

EXHAUSTIVE SHOOT

The wedding day shoot goes for at least 10 hours, from about midday to 10.30pm – with the vows alone lasting for three hours!

LIGHTS, CAMERA, RE-ACTION!

The show makes it look like the bride and groom’s reactions are completely spontaneous, but our insider reveals that even though the moment the bride first walks down the aisle and sees her groom is real, “it’s reshot around four to five times”.

Adds the guest, “Producers need to get reaction shots from just about everyone from every angle. So the groom and all the guests have to pretend it’s happening for the first time over and over again.

“And that goes for the vows, the kissing... everything is reshot. The poor groom was exhausted by the end of it, having to pretend to be shocked each time!”

AN INTIMATE PARTY... OF 200!

While many of the ceremonies look intimate on TV, our source says there were about 200 people – including cameramen, producers, light technicians and more – working behind the scenes.

“It was quite overwhelming,” says the insider. “There were so many people on what looked like a tiny, intimate wedding.”
