Sober curiosity – that is, dabbling with sobriety for wellness or health reasons – has been growing in popularity in recent years as people examine their relationship with alcohol. If this is you, there’s no better time to explore going teetotal than during the holiday period, as drinking tends to soar.

Sarhys Page, personal trainer, fitness expert and body positivity advocate, has been sober for six years, and explains everything you need to know about enjoying a booze-free summer.

WHO CAN BE SOBER CURIOUS?

According to Sarhys, a sober lifestyle can be for absolutely anybody, not just those who think they have a problem.

“Most people assume that if you’re sober you’ve had a problem with alcohol in the past, but I know people that have made the decision because they know their quality of life is improved by cutting out booze,” she says.
