Offering relatively affordable studio monitors has been a sort of norm for Sennheiser now. The brilliant HD 560 S sure stunned us as an overall package, but can the new kids on the block have the same effect?

FOR Comfort, expansive soundstage, great detail

AGAINST Lacks enthusiasm in heavier tracks

Sennheiser's HD range has a rich heritage that has trickled down the models when it comes to the overall design, fit and finish. On the HD 400 Pro, there's a lot more plastic than you would see on the models sitting above it, however it's not of the flimsy kind. The earcups feel solid, the band feels solid and they don't skimp too much on quality here. Clad in plastic, the HD 400 has its benefits. It's super light weight and feels like a bunch of feathers. The lightness belies the size of the huge cups which fit flush around the ear.
