YOUNG Zak Chappell has already turned a few heads with his performances for Leicestershire this season, but the 20-yearold insists he’s nowhere near the finished article just yet.

More To Come From This Happy Chappy

Looking to follow in the footsteps of the likes of Stuart Broad and James Taylor, the young seamer has high hopes of pushing on at Grace Road – although other counties are certainly sniffing around – and earning national selection.

He has already made a good start along that road having spent last winter with the ECB Pace Development programme and nailing down a regular spot in the Foxes’ first team this season.

Chappell took five wickets at under 25 in the Royal London One-Day Cup with an economy rate at below a run a ball earlier this year, and has 16 dismissals at an average of just 15.94 in redball cricket in 2018.

The Foxes face Blast North favourites Lancashire Lightning this evening giving Chappell another chance to prove his worth against a powerful batting line-up.

“I feel like I have made strides in terms of playing cricket more regularly,” he said. “But I don’t feel I am near to reaching my potential yet.
