When Ravindra Jadeja started his career, he was tailor made for shorter formats. Even the likes of Shane Warne was impressed with his qualities as an all-round star. The former Australian player went on to give Jadeja a new name. The Indian player was called Rockstar by Shane Warne. He showed his importance by performing for Team India in shorter formats. The signs were visible about his progress as a cricketer. Even in the four-day Ranji Trophy games, he was making steady mark with couple of triple centuries to his name. He was always among the wickets. The Indian selectors thought that Jadeja is the answer to India’s all-round drought.

However, with passage of time, he has faded in shorter formats. The performances are not coming and he is proving a mere traveler with the team. It is not he has not been given chances or the management has not trusted him but the lack of consistency is not expected from a player like him at the international level. The ODIs and T20 internationals have the tendency to check the level of a player at a fast phase and if he or she is not able to pay rich dividends, the place in the team is bound to be questioned. The situation is completely reverse in Test cricket where he is giving match winning performance one after another. He is one of the main reasons behind India’s number one rank in Test cricket.
