As Cricket South Africa played bluff with the cricket world, first announcing an innovative match, then withdrawing it after backlash and after controversy, only to bring it back to the stadium at the eleventh hour, the reasons for the need to showcase this is evident as it is obvious.

It would be an understatement to say that CSA has had the worst year and a half in the history of their sport. The issues are far from resolved is evident in the fact that even this tournament/match named the Solidarity Cup was played out on Saturday at Centurion Park, involving some of South Africa’s finest contemporary cricketers in the shadow of controversy.
