The Indian Premier League (IPL) is a behemoth today. It has grown from strength to strength in the past decade and has caught the fancy of world cricket with every passing year. IPL 2018 will see a new innovation in this world-renowned league now. For the first time since its inception in 2008, the IPL is all set to have a mid-season transfer window.

Popular football leagues like EPL or La Liga have had the practice of players swapping sides in the middle of the season for long. However, this will be for the first time this will happen in the IPL. The unique initiative has added a fresh dimension to the league and fans and cricketers alike are extremely excited by this move.

“The mid-season transfer window will give the teams an opportunity to see what they need in the squad and other teams will also be looking at what players they can get,” Mumbai Indians captain, Rohit Sharma, was quoted as saying. “It completely depends on the franchise if a situation comes when we need to get a player or give a player. It is good for the tournament and will add even more value to the tournament.”
