Emma Black: Second Sight

Glasgow City wrapped up the title last week, but Emma Black is adamant that Celtic’s season isn’t finished yet

Emma Black: Second Sight

EMMA Black is nearing the end of her first season at Celtic and the Hoops defender is hoping her experience can help the side achieve their goal of second spot in the league.

With 10 league titles and 40 Scotland caps to her name, Black took a break from football in 2015 to focus on raising her family, but she returned to the sport to help Motherwell gain promotion before signing for Celtic.

She’s played her part in helping Celtic make massive progress so far this season and is hopeful that will continue as the campaign nears its end.

HOW IS THE MOOD WITHIN THE SQUAD AFTER THE RETURN TO ACTION IN THE FORM OF A 5-0 WIN?

That was a good result considering we’ve let ourselves down the first time we played Motherwell this season when we drew 0-0. We knew we had a big win like that coming because we’d been working hard in training. The games were limited coming into that match so everyone was just eager to get out and play.

DOES A BIG WIN LIKE THAT TAKE ON MORE SIGNIFICANCE WHEN EVERYTHING IS SO TIGHT TOWARDS THE END OF THE SEASON?

Absolutely. At the start of the season we set ourselves a target to at least finish second and we felt as if that slipped away from us a bit recently after the losses to Hibs and Glasgow City in September. It’s good now that we’re regularly getting comfortable victories against the teams below us in the league. It just shows how far the club’s come this season.

THERE’S LESS THAN A MONTH LEFT IN THE CAMPAIGN. HOW IS THE SEASON RUN-IN LOOKING?
