Mainline Carp angler of year crowns victory with first UK fifty.
-
The old adage that success breeds success seems to sum up Dave Levy’s year perfectly. The 43-year-old Wickford ace was crowned 2016/17 Mainline Carp Angler of the Year last week following a blistering campaign on Horton Church Lake that saw him bank no fewer than six forties amongst numerous other carp.
No sooner had the dust settled on the announcement than Dave was back out on the RK Leisure water in pursuit of one final whacker before his ticket ran out. Of course, the Lake obliged, and in quite spectacular fashion, yielding a new fifty in the form of Roger the Dodger at 50lb 2oz (above). Not only that, it was a new personal best for Dave and his first UK fifty.

Around the venues If I told you in Staffordshire there is a fishery with pools within which the average carp is currently over 30lb, you’d be interested, wouldn’t you? What if I told you it’s not a syndicate or a club venue, but is available for all to fish on a day-ticket basis? Still interested? Then check out Baden hall Fishery, where the Quarry is starting to wake up and big fish are on the move.
