Twenty-one-year-old Connor Swift took the biggest win of his young career in the Leicester Castle Classic on Sunday, soloing clear of a resurgent peloton to take victory in the final round of the Grand Prix Series on Sunday.

It was a double celebration for his Madison-Genesis team as Jonathan McEvoy’s fourth place on the day was enough to leapfrog Dexter Gardias (Bike Channel-Canyon) to take the overall Grand Prix series by one point.

Swift, who hails from Doncaster, has dreams of stepping up to the professional peloton after enjoying his first year at Continental level.
