|May 2021
As the second wave rages on, the crucial need of the hour is to boost your lung capacity and increase the oxygen level in the body to survive and keep going in these adverse and uncertain times.

Incorporating a few changes in our daily routine can make all the difference. If you are experiencing mild Covid symptoms or feeling anxious and tense, do not panic. Build your immunity and lower your stress levels, with simple breathing exercises, pranayamas, yogasanas, herbal concoctions and specific home remedies. Along with your medication, all these practices act as preventive and supportive techniques to help you regain your health and strength.
BREATH IS THE WAY
Shoulder mobility exercise
When we are anxious and nervous and lie down or remain in a certain posture for long, we tend to accumulate lot of stress around our shoulder and neck areas. The areas become stiff, reducing the mobility of the shoulders and not allowing the clavicles to function smoothly. As a result, there is not enough room for the lungs to expand which in turns leads to shortness of breath.
Sit up straight. As you inhale through the nose, just pull up your shoulders and squeeze them up against your ears. Now exhale through the mouth with a sound Ha. Let your shoulders drop down and relax. Do this 7 - 9 times.
Benefits: It enhances the lung function and improves breathing.
Shoulder pumping
Make a loose fist with our hands and inhale from the nose. Now hold your breath and just pump your shoulders up and down continuously for a while. Hold your breath as long as you can and then release the breath through the mouth with a ‘Ha’ sound. Relax your hands and push your shoulders down as well. Repeat this for 5-7 times and do not force on yourself. The entire exercise must be performed with minimum effort.
