According to Amitava, the fashion industry is so large that it might take more than a month to visualise and implement a concept before the shoot. Patience is essential while working as a freelance photographer. He has so taken up photography with the purpose of capturing as many emotions and moods as possible and showcasing its blended style in his work to the audience by fusing his perspective of minimalism with principles of popular commercial photography.

When did you first become interested in photography? What sparked it and when did you decide that it was what you were going to do?

Towards the end of my school life, a couple of my friends and I started going on photo walks. We started as amateurs with Street photography which I realised I did not particularly excel at. Despite that, those early morning walks through the old city drenched in a vibrant nostalgia made me wish I could capture all of it through my lens. That sparked my interest in photography. However, my real interest was engaged when I started assisting Neal Bhaumik and became familiar with the works of Prabuddha Dasgupta, Peter Lindbergh, and Steven Miesel. My decision to pursue it as a profession came about a year later, and I started taking on work as a professional while pursuing my undergraduate degree in English Literature.
