Dhobighat Photowalk and Review Session

Asian Photography, as a Magazine, has always been recognised for being inventive and trying new things for its readers. Following the pandemic we decided to surprise our readers and fans with photowalk and a review session.

A photowalk is a social activity in which photographers gather in groups to walk about with cameras, taking pictures of things that interest them. Who doesn't enjoy going on a photowalk? The event brought in Ritam Banerjee, a noted photographer who lead a Photowalk and a Review Session in Dhobighat.

How was it unique?

The concept of a Photowalk was not exclusive to the magazine, since similar efforts had already taken place in Kolkata during the magazine's initiative, Artistique. The sole purpose of the photowalk and review session is to act as a knowledge exchange platform, with attendees learning something from it. We wanted a professional photographer to teach them and make it a fun learning experience for everyone.

Ritam Banerjee, one of the top fashion and street photographers (two of his many specialties) accepted our request to host it. He has photographed advertising, automobiles, portraiture, fashion, corporate, architecture, cuisine, travel, industrial, photojournalism, and many more subjects.

Prizes and participants

The efforts of the participants were also rewarded by SanDisk. The company was gracious enough to provide the photographers with goodies as prize winners.

With the chances of rains around the corner, we were skeptical if particpants will show up. But more than 60 participants from Satara, Surat, Vadodra, Kalyan, Badlapur, Navi Mumbai, and other places showed up at 7:00 am in the morning.
