Football In Mourning For Absalon
Manila Bulletin
|June 8, 2021
The local football community is mourning the loss of Far Eastern University’s Kieth Absalon, who was killed Sunday, June 6 while riding a bicycle with his relatives in Masbate City.
The Philippine Football Federation, FEU’s athletics department and his non-professional club Malaya FC were among those who paid tribute to Absalon, who was only 21 years old.
A report by the Philippine News Agency said Absalon and his cousin Nolven, 40, were believed to have died from an explosive device planted by members of the New People’s Army.
A third victim, Nolven’s 16-year-old son Chrisbin Daniel, survived the incident and is being treated at a local hospital.
