Setback For Indian Archery

More delay in the poll process could see AAI get derecognised

THE proverbial Sword of Damocles hangs over the national archery community with World Archery’s (WA) threat of derecognising Archery Association of India looming larger than ever. WA has hardened its stand against AAI since and rebuffed efforts by some Indian archers to take part in indoor competitions in Rome, Nimes and Las Vegas from December to February.

To make things worse, former Delhi Chief Secretary Rakesh Mehta is said to have expressed his inability to take up responsibilities as the AAI Returning Officer, thus possibly delaying the electoral process. The Court will now have to find and appoint a new returning officer so that there are no delays that can lead to AAI, already suspended by WA, facing more stringent action.
