It is not the genuine cricket fan but people associated with the commerce of cricket who are batting for the Indian Premier League to be held in the next few months.

Keeping The IPL Dream Alive!

Day in and day out one reads interviews of how the IPL will be held in the United Arab Emirates and watching it on the television will be a pure bliss. All and sundry are giving interviews on how the IPL is the panacea for all ills today, as if even the damage caused by COVID-19 will lessen.

At the time when no sport is happening in India and even elite athletes camps in swimming and hockey for the Tokyo Olympics have been put in cold storage, the clamour for IPL has reached a crescendo.

The media, too, is playing its role as there are any number of stories in print claiming the IPL will be held in Dubai in the September-November slot. The reasons for wanting the IPL to take place are bizarre.

Agreed, you can be a diehard cricket lover but given the COVID-19 situation in India, no metro city can host IPL matches even if you play it in front of empty stands.
