England legend Gooch pens emotional homage to friend Willis as tributes pour in
-
The cricketing world reacted to the sad news that former England captain and cricket pundit Bob Willis died on Wednesday.
The pace bowler played 90 Tests for England and was a popular figure in broadcasting and the wider sporting world.
Willis’ most famous moment as a player came in the 1981 Ashes series as his eight for 43 fired England to a remarkable win in the third Test at Headingley.
He is England’s fourth highest wicket-taker of all time with 325 wickets. Those who reacted to the news celebrated his achievements and paid tribute to his fruitful life and career.

Graham Gooch, a former team-mate, opened up on his experiences with Willis.
“Everyone in the cricketing fraternity around the world will be devastated that such an iconic figure has left us,” Gooch wrote for the DAILY MAIL.
