Centre has asked state govts to build exclusive hospitals for COVID-19 patients

As COVID-19 cases are steadily rising despite three-week lockdown in place, the Modi government has initiated steps to meet any challenge in the near future. These measures include earmarking ICU beds and ventilators city-wise and ensuring protection gear for healthcare professionals.

If the number of affected patients continues to rise, Delhi would need at least 3000 ICU beds and 1500 ventilators, Mumbai would need 2500 ICU beds and 1250 ventilators while Bengaluru may require at least 2000 ICU beds and half of it with ventilators. While smaller cities would at least need 500 beds for ICU and 250 ventilators.
