Tommy turns one as donor scheme becomes law

A baby celebrated his first birthday on the day Max and Keira’s Law came into force – after a life-saving organ transplant from his dad.

Now Tommy Collins is a symbol of hope for the Mirror-backed scheme, in which everyone in England is a potential donor after they die unless they opt-out.

Among the first to praise the new legislation were Tommy’s parents Alfie Collins and Maisie Davies.
