EX-Cop Wayne Pivac reckons his time pounding the New Zealand beat will ensure there are no sudden communication breakdowns in Wales' search for more Six Nations glory in the coming weeks.

The new head coach believes his tough past working life experiences mean he has little problem making harsh rugby decisions such as axing players and laying down the playing law.

Pivac knows he has entered a pressurised goldfish bowl by taking over from Warren Gatland and accepting the job of continuing his countryman’s outstanding work as head coach.

But he is relishing that challenge which begins in earnest with the start of their northern hemisphere title defence against Italy in Cardiff on Saturday.
