Carefree Quins vets can steer kids to silverware

ATTACK coach Nick Evans believes Harlequins old lags have enough miles left in their legs to help fire the club’s top four hopes.

The former New Zealand fly-half, below, has watched as scrum-half Danny Care, 34, and fullback Mike Brown, 35, have rolled back the years to light up the Stoop since the departure of head of rugby Paul Gustard.

The pair plus another veteran in Joe Marler, have inspired young guns Marcus Smith and Alex Dombrandt to press their England claims.

Care and Brown’s England days may be over, with 156 caps between them, but Evans says the pair have had a new lease of life since the international shackles have been taken off.

Evans said: “With Danny almost being told he is not in, it subconsciously loosens him up a little bit. There is a bit of that and a little bit of what we are doing at the club aligning with what he is as a player.
