WATSON'S BACK, TOP OF THE BILL

KEVIN WATSON is mightily relieved to be back in the manager’s dugout – he’s at least got some friends again!

It’s been eight months since Watson left his role as Ebbsfleet United manager and the 47-year-old admits he’s felt out of the loop as football battles the Covid crisis.

Now, however, the former Tottenham, Colchester and Reading midfielder has been handed the reins at National League South side Billericay Town – and now suddenly his popularity has shot through the roof!

“Everyone is my friend again,” Watson jokes. “I had no friends for eight months but on hearing I got the job I had 72 different people WhatsApp me; players wanting to play for the club, agents, and various people in the game – it was nice to be wanted again.”
