NEW Chesterfield manager James Rowe is under no illusions the size of the job at hand – and is warning it will take time to turn things around.
The 37-year-old has become the fourth permanent appointment at the Spireites since they dropped into Non-League two years ago.
John Pemberton was the latest to go and almost 60 candidates applied for the job, but Rowe “stood out a mile” in the view of chairman Mike Goodwin.
“He gave us a presentation for an hour and it blew me away,” he said. “His grasp of where we are and what needs to be done, and the game itself, was incredible.”
Rowe, a former striker for Ilkeston Town, Histon, AFC Sudbury, Leiston, Canvey Island and Leamington, had taken unbeaten Gloucester City to the top of National League North this season.
