It’s been a long wait for the Silkmen fans after seeing their club – Macclesfield Town – slip into oblivion last summer.
But refreshed and revitalised, a new era in the North West Counties League has begun – head of football Robbie Savage delighted with the result on the club’s opening party.
The former Leicester City midfielder said: “It’s been a fantastic day for myself and Rob (Smethurst) to see the local public response to the new club.
“They deserve a club to be proud of and the pressure on this new group of players is going to be immense. But we are confident that they will rise to the challenge.”
