DANNY Philliskirk spared his blushes after missing from the penalty spot as Jim Bentley’s AFC Fylde made it seven points from nine with a crucial victory over fellow strugglers Aldershot Town.

The midfield man steered home from the rebound after his 20th-minute spot-kick was saved by Mitch Walker, following a foul on Mark Yeates.

And it proved just enough to earn the Coasters a vital win in their battle against relegation with Bentley’s men now just four points adrift of safety.

Describing the second straight win as “just what the doctor ordered”, Bentley said: “It’s about results now, rather than focusing on playing the pretty football we can play.

“The way we defended today was just as important as creating goals at the other end.”
