Congress Vice - President Rahul Gandhi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on 29 January 2017 launched their joint road show as a part of their recent poll alliance at Lucknow with a poll slogan “UP ko ye Sath Pasand Hai” (UP likes this association). Earlier they held an overcrowded joint press conference wherein they expressed solidarity about the alliance.
Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav rode on the top of a specially designed “UP Vijay Rath” with his security cover around them. They got rousing welcome with flowers, rose petals and garlands all the way, 12 km long first road show. The show attracted inquisitive mass that saw new political churning coming up to change political landscape of the state.
The road show covered some densely populated areas of the state capital spanning the old Lucknow localities, which have a sizable Muslim population. The route was methodically planned in such way that the message of the alliance reached a cross-section of people and large section of population.
