Tick-Tocking Anti-India Games, China Now Aims to Deluge the Northeast Amlan Home Chowdhury

THE WATER BOMB TICKING

As India finally said bye, bye to the Nehruvian-era non-starter Hindi Chini Bhai Bhai slogan that never saw Beijing acting brotherly with New Delhi, China now indulges in using water as weapon to harm Arunachal Pradesh and other parts of the Northeast India.

By constructing an artificial lake on the Yarlung Tsangpo River in Tibet just above Arunachal Pradesh, China has deliberately created fear of a potential “water bomb”. If the lake is breached purposely, it can devastate the Siang Basin inundating vast areas in Northeast.

This artificial lake is huge in dimension and right below the lake lie the Siang River Basin of Arunachal Pradesh which is also equally large. Since China is an expert in sabotages, it can bring about a deluge in Arunachal Pradesh which will also devastate Assam.

The artificial lake on the Yarlung Tsangpo River really can act as a powerful “Water Bomb”. After China’s recent misadventure at Galwan and constant sneaking in of the Peoples Liberation Army (PLA) in Arunachal Pradesh over the years, we need to fear this new kind of bomb.

RECALLING - THE MAN OF GREAT VIRTUES P.A.SANGMA

As September approaches there begins a change in Delhi, morning becomes cooler, midday sun a bit friendly, humidity too pretends to be packing off and a sense of an all-pervasive thermal comfortability becomes visible outdoors. I still remember P A Sangma was born on 1st September 1947and the remembrance takes me to look back and a montages of memories come crowding in: some events are still clear while some got blurred, perhaps the inner flash is partly diffused.
