EVENTIDE BLACKHOLE
EVENTIDE’S BLACKHOLE REVERB algorithm is one of the most popular and widely used effects featured in the company’s Space and H9 Max pedals. Far more complex and sophisticated than average spring, room or hall environment reverbs, Blackhole can generate deep, luscious textures with silky smooth tails that trail off into infinity as well as distinctive hypnotic rhythms with stunning depth and tangible dimension, delivering incredibly musical and expressive effects that can elevate even an ordinary idea into something extraordinary.
The main drawback for musicians who wanted to explore the creative potential of the Blackhole reverb algorithm in pedal format was the price, with the most inexpensive option being the purchase of an H9 Core for $399 and the Blackhole algorithm for an additional $19.99. By packaging the Blackhole reverb effect as a standalone product, Eventide has reduced the access price significantly while also making it easier for users to control, program and modify sounds. Much more than a reverb effect, Blackhole is an instrument unto itself that is well worth its (now much more affordable) price.

HOW TO PLAY THIS MONTH'S SONGS
RELEASED AS A single, ahead of Shinedown's upcoming eighth studio album, this simple, well-crafted song, which was no doubt at least partially inspired by Def Leppard's “Hysteria” and U2's “With or Without You,” has guitarist Zach Myers flatpicking eighth notes with a clean bridge-pickup tone, laying down a repeating eight-bar pattern of ringing chordal arpeggios that share three common tones, with only the bass note changing every two bars.
