He was a legend to the generations of Aussies who grew up watching him on their screens, and he won a slew of Logie Awards, but Bert’s proudest life achievement was simply being a grandparent to his six grandchildren.

During the final years of his life, Bert revelled in being a doting ‘Poppy’ to his daughter Lauren and son-in-law Matt Welsh’s kids: Sam, Eva, Lola, Monty, Perla and Alby, who was named in his honour.
